Who We Are
We are a group of Arab gay women and home to all lesbians, inter-sex, queers, transsexual, transgender, questioning and bisexual women.

why us?
Together we unearthed the common grounds between us and were determined to provide an opportunity for all Arab gay women to promote self-empowerment, provide support, influence social upbringing and change public opinion about the concepts of sexuality, sexual orientation, gender and homosexuality and our sociopolitical rights as a minority group with a different sexual orientation.

Is to raise our voices to echo in the corridors of our society, promote our existence to raise public awareness, and create a safe environment for gay Arab women within our Arab and Palestinian society.

what we want
Our vision is to reach and build a network for all Arab gay women, and spread awareness within society to create a culture of acceptance and tolerance towards the issue of homosexuality.

what we do
We promote Arab gay women, support them on all personal and social levels, thus creating dialogue and change within our Arab Palestinian society towards homosexuality. In addition to the provision of moral support, we also conduct monthly meetings, offer support groups, provide a support and consultation line, implement empowerment sessions and awareness raising workshops, provide informational publications in Arabic and English, as well as an effective website and discussion forums.

La communauté gay algérienne s’offre une journée nationale



Ce 10 Octobre 2012, la communauté LGBT algérienne célèbre la 6 ème édition de la Journée Nationale des LGBT Algériens (Lesbiennes, Gays, Bisexuels(les), Transsexuels).



Cette journée intitulée « Tenten 2012″ consiste à allumer une bougie ce mercredi 10 Octobre à 20h00, afin d’affirmer son soutien à la communauté homosexuelle. L’évènement existe depuis 6 ans et permet au mouvement LGBT algérien de s’exprimer en indiquant qu’il existe bel et bien des homosexuels en Algérie.

« Notre communauté a besoin de se rassembler autour de cette cause, d’y croire et de s’harmoniser pour constituer une force de proposition. En effet, notre action a pour objectif de mobiliser les lesbiennes, gays, bisexuels(les) et transsexuels(les) algériens pour se battre afin que cessent les inégalités », explique l’association Alouen, qui parraine l’évènement.

En parallèle le Tenten a lancé une campagne de sensibilisation sur les réseaux sociaux notamment sur Facebook, pour informer et inviter les Algériens à réagir sur l’intérêt d’une telle manifestation et sur la communauté gay en général en Algérie.

A l’heure actuelle l’homosexualité reste punie par la loi en Algérie. D’après l’article 338 du Code pénal algérien, « tout coupable d’un acte d’homosexualité est puni d’un emprisonnement de deux mois à deux ans et d’une amende de 500 à 2 000 DA. Si l’un des auteurs est mineur de dix-huit ans, la peine à l’égard du majeur peut être élevée jusqu’à trois ans d’emprisonnement et 10 000 DA d’amende ».
